PERSONAL SECURITY AND PROTECTION

In the event your credit union VISA Credit Card or VISA Debit Card are lost or stolen, and particularly if it happens during a weekend or after business hours, please call the following phone number immediately to report the incident:

1-800-682-6075

Click Here to Report Your Card Lost or Stolen

Such immediate action will help minimize the unauthorized use of your VISA Credit Card or Debit Card by a dishonest person.

You may want to write this number down and keep in a place separate from your purse or billfold, which most likely would be the item lost or stolen with your cards in it. Suggestion, in the glove compartment of your vehicle, in a suitcase if your traveling, etc.

YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO SAFE WHEN IT COMES TO INTENTIONAL THEFT AND PREDATORS WHO MAKE THEIR LIVING OFF OTHERS. BUT YOU CAN BE PREPARED TO RESPOND QUICKLY TO SUCH ACTS TO AVOID THE SIZE OF THE MONETARY LOSS.

ADDRESS CHANGES

When requesting a change of address please notify the Credit Union in writing or with a phone call. This way we are able to verify the authenticity of the request using internal security measures. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT E-MAIL REQUESTS FOR A CHANGE OF ADDRESS. This procedure is in place for the safety of our members and the Credit Union.

BEWARE OF PHISHING AND OTHER ID THEFT SCAMS

Phishing - pronounced fishing - is the latest form of identity theft. It's when thieves act as if they are representing us and try to "hook" you into providing personal information. Once you've been "hooked," the thieves can do serious damage to your financial accounts. They can dupe you into providing your Social Security number, financial account numbers, PIN numbers, passwords, mothers' maiden name and other personal information.

How Does It Work?

(By E-mail) The most common form of phishing is by e-mail. For instance, you could receive an e-mail from Walla Walla Valley Federal Credit Union, asking you to "reconfirm" you personal information. Unfortunately, this e-mail is not from us, but from a phisher pretending to be a representative of our organization. Typically, the e-mail contains a link to a Web site that looks like a near-replica of our site. You click into the link and add your personal information, which goes right into the hands of identity thieves. It is important to not respond to these e-mails. WALLA WALLA VALLEY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION WILL NOT REQUEST INFORMATION VIA E-MAIL.

(By Phone) Phishers also use the phone to hunt for personal information. Some, posing as employers, call or send e-mails to people who have listed themselves on job search Web sites.

While phishing scams can be sophisticated, the following features are often indicators that something is suspicious.

Be aware of a potential scam if:

* Someone unexpectedly contacts you and asks for your personal information, such as your financial institution account number, an account password or PIN, credit card number, Social Security number or membership number. Walla Walla Valley Federal Credit Union would not contact you for that information.

* The sender, who is supposedly a representative of our organization, asks you to confirm that you have a relationship with us. We already have that information on record.

* You are warned that your account will be shut down unless you "reconfirm" your financial information. We would either contact you by phone or letter and request you visit our office.

IF YOU RECEIVE AN UNSOLICITED E-MAIL OR PHONE CALL THAT SEEMS SUSPICIOUS, AND IS ALLEGEDLY FROM OUR ORGANIZATION, PLEASE DO NOT REVEAL ANY INFORMATION. IN FACT, PLEASE CONTACT US AT (509) 522-2010 TO VERIFY THAT THE REQUEST IS LEGITIMATE.

INTERNET PIRATES ARE TRYING TO STEAL YOUR PERSONAL FINANCIAL INFORMATION.

First off, no legitimate financial institution or business will use the internet to exchange personal financial information. Particularly to verify accounts, pin numbers, social security numbers and security codes.

1. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER provide personal financial information over the phone or the Internet if YOU did not initiate the contact.

2. Do not be intimidated by an e-mail or caller who suggests dire consequences if you do not immediately provide or verify financial information. THE INTERNET IS NOT RECOGNIZED AS A LEGAL COMMUNICATION'S TOOL (LEGAL NOTICES) BY OUR JUDICIARY SYSTEM.

3. Report suspicious e-mails or calls to the Federal Trade Commission through the Internet at www.consumer.gov/idtheft or by calling 1-877-IDTHEFT.
